As if the hops gardens in their spledonr weren't special enough, you are sure to find little treasures with their very own charm in the Hallertau. The history of hop cultivation, which can be traced here back to the 8th century, can be explored in many ways in this fascinating landscape; the German Hop Route and the Bavarian Beer Route run through this area. On its course through the hop-growing area breweries and museums remember of the most Bavarian of all cultural assets, the "Reinheitsgebot" and tradional brewing techniques - including the opportunity to try all this out, of course. The beauty of the Bavarian Beer Road, which has paths for hikers, cyclists, and motorists and motorcyclists alike, ends at the spectacular "Donaudurchbruch" gorge, where the Weltenburg Abbey and the spa town of Bad Gögging with the Limes thermal baths are located.
